Additive Manufacturing Simulation: Simufact presents their solutions and case study under the umbrella of Hexagon

At this year’s formnext fair in Frankfurt/Main (Germany), Simufact Engineering provides first insights into the third generation of Simufact Additive, their solution for the simulation of metal additive manufacturing processes. Through the introduction of thermal-mechanical analysis methods, Simufact paves the way of bigger and smaller novelties. Meet Simufact and e-Xstream under the umbrella of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence in hall 3.0 at stand F27. Digimat-AM is e-Xstream’s solution for the simulation of 3D printing processes in plastics and composites. Simufact as well as e-Xstream are part of MSC Software, a computer-aided engineering (CAE) specialist, who has been acquired by Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence earlier this year.

Discover new functionalities in Simufact Additive 3 during Live-Demo

In time for formnext fair, Simufact brings to market the next version of their solution for the simulation of additive manufacturing processes. Highlight of Simufact Additive 3 is the thermo-mechanical calculation method, which in addition to mechanical simulation shows the effects of thermal energy on the additively manufactured part: With this calculation method users can now determine deformation as well as the influence of the base plate to the component. Simufact will present these and further novelties in the context of live-demos on their formnext booth.

Efficient software for the simulation of additive manufacturing processes

Since Simufact launched Simufact Additive at the end of year 2016 and provided a software solution for the simulation of metal-based additive manufacturing processes, the clocks are ticking a bit faster at Simufact. With Simufact Additive the Hamburg/Germany based company not only convinced trial customers but also built up a quite remarkable customer base with companies of the sectors Aerospace and Defence, Automotive and AM-suppliers. That gives Simufact a tail wind and the certainty that users already achieve clear practical benefits from the first product version and the use of process simulation is profitable.

LightHinge+ - innovative lightweight construction for the automotive industry

In co-operation with EDAG Engineering and voestalpine Additive Manufacturing Center, Simufact demonstrates with the innovative LightHinge+ project the potential of additive manufacturing technologies for the automotive production. LightHinge+ is an additively manufactured hood hinge, which combines lightweight and increased safety in a single construction. At formnext fair Simufact will present the results of this constructive co-operation and represents the role of process simulation.
