Sonic MEGA 8K is Phrozen’s latest large-format resin 3D printer to date – here are its key specifications

3D printer manufacturer Phrozen has just unveiled its Sonic Mega 8K. Described as the “most daring piece of work” of the company, the resin 3D printer is one of the largest format 3D printers of the company to date.

According to Phrozen, printing out large-scale & detailed models with a resin 3D printer mainly meant printing out multiple batches of 3D models and assembling them together. The Sonic Mega 8K 3D printer addresses this limitation by enabling operators to have both size and quality in one print, at the same time.

“From regular table sized ogres to a thousand army soldiers, mega-sized terrain that covers your whole table, or even body armor for festivals such as Halloween, Sonic Mega 8K simply prints out all your creations with stunning 8K resolution”, the company explains.

The machine features a full metal exterior look; its dual linear rail & ball screw design helps to achieve the printing of large and heavy objects with no wobbling.

With the ability to deliver XY feature details at 43µm thanks to its 8K resolution, the new 3D printer integrates a 15” Mono-LCD Screen and a 40cm tall Z-axis. The machine comes with a pre-calibrated building plate and is supported by CHITUBOX slicer software system.

Thanks to a multi-fan cooling system, excess heat will be automatically go away. While makers and professionals can choose between USB and Ethernet, it should be noted that the 3D printer is similar to other technologies in that it integrates the company’s monochrome LCD technology.

The latter enables white light to pass as opposed to the standard RGB spectrum which means operators can achieve faster cure times and an average print speed of 70mm/hr.

Pre-orders of the 3D printer start at $1399.99. Its key specifications can be summarized as follows:
