Top 2: BMW benefits from additive manufacturing

Recently, the BMW automobile company opened a center dedicated entirely to 3D printing: the Additive Manufacturing Campus in Oberschleissheim, north of Munich. In the video below, you can see what is inside the BMW AM center to learn more about how the German manufacturer makes use of the innovative 3D printing technologies. Additive manufacturing provides BMW with the opportunity to create organic and much more complex structures than would be possible through traditional production.

Top 3: Forward AM’s work with Photocentric

BASF’s 3D printing division, Forward AM, is developing a materials portfolio specifically tailored for the LCD-screen based 3D printers from Photocentric. The two companies – Forward AM and Photocentric – have been collaborating on optimizing photopolymer resins and printer parameters, and the next step is to go to market together with a range of high-performance photopolymers: ‘Ultracur3D Powered by Photocentric’. For BASF, this is another specialized application for its Ultracur range of materials, which can be applied to DLP, LCD and SLA based 3D printing technologies.


Top 4: KC3D Enable Project – 3D printed hand

Keystone College located in Pennsylvania, US, has an additive manufacturing center to educate students and prepare them for a career in 3D printing field; the center also benefits local residents and businesses. Recently, they partnered with a non-profit organization, Enabling the Future global 3D printing network, to manufacture prosthetics  for the members of the Northeastern Pennsylvania community. Once completed, the devices will function just like artificial hands and will be designed and made entirely through the 3D printing process.
