Hyper FFF™ from Raise3D: A Solution to Increase the Speed of the FFF Process Without Sacrificing Accuracy

A few days ago, the manufacturer Raise3D announced an important upgrade for its FDM 3D printers, more specifically for its Pro3 Series (Pro3 and Pro3 Plus). Named the Hyper Speed Upgrade Kit (or HUK3), the solution is designed to significantly improve the speed of FFF machines without affecting the final quality of the parts. The new kit includes a software upgrade, an intelligent high-speed auto-calibration solution, improved filaments and two high- speed hot ends. With this launch, Raise3D hopes to take its users to greater levels of productivity, overcoming some of the most significant challenges in the extrusion process. It is available at a discounted price for orders placed before December 31st 2022.

FFF technology is undoubtedly one of the most widely used processes when it comes to 3D printing and is generally complementary to traditional manufacturing methods. For example, it allows for the production of prototypes more efficiently and at a lower cost before validating a design and launching the final production, thus allowing for multiple iterations. Even though some solutions are designed for the production of finished parts thanks to higher printing speeds, they remain relatively expensive and not very accessible, which ultimately reduces the use of FDM machines. Many manufacturers are working on this speed, a major challenge as increasing it can negatively impact surface quality and interlayer adhesion, resulting in unusable parts. That’s why Raise3D has designed a new ecosystem for its Pro3 and Pro3 Plus machines, with everything from hardware to software and materials. The speed of this technology will make it even more relevant for low-volume production, while maintaining the flexibility of an FFF printer for prototyping projects. And connecting it to RaiseCloud to remotely control multiple printers simultaneously will change the scale of production levels that can be achieved with Raise3D printers.

A Faster and More Accurate Process Supported by a Complete Ecosystem

Raise3D therefore developed Hyper FFF™ technology, a solution that allows for more speed while preserving part quality. To do this, the manufacturer used an algorithm that absorbs the vibrations every time the print head quickly changes direction. Therefore, it is able to minimize shocks and thus the risk of print failures, for example bad surface quality or an insufficient inter-layer adhesion. In addition, thanks to the robust and stable chassis of the Pro3 and Pro3 Plus machines, the user can count on better dimensional accuracy. According to Raise3D, the user can achieve a speed that is on average 3.8 times faster than competing professional solutions.
But hardware alone is not enough; you need reliable software and suitable materials. As for the filaments, if the speed of the machine increases, it leaves less time for the thermoplastic to melt and therefore poor bonding between the layers could occur. To avoid this problem, Raise3D has launched two new ranges of filaments, Hyper Speed and Hyper Core, whose molecular weight has been reworked to have better fluidity. Their thermal profile is also interesting since they melt and cool faster, thus allowing users to have the desired finish and details. For now, the manufacturer offers ABS and PPA Hyper Speed with other materials to come (PETG, PC, ASA, etc.). The more industrial Hyper Core range is expected to be released in 2023 with a carbon fiber filled PPA.

What Can We Expect From Hyper FFF™ Technology?

Multiple tests have been performed already – with 0.4 mm nozzles and 0.2 mm layer thickness – and the results are great. In fact, compared to prints made on competing professional machines, the new Raise3D upgrade has increased productivity by 3 to 5 times, achieved a filling speed of 200 to 350 mm/s (compared to 80 to 100 mm/s) and reduced printing time by 75%.

Edward Feng, CEO of Raise3D, added: “The results that we have achieved with this technology breakthrough are truly remarkable, far better than we could anticipate, making us confident it will be a milestone not only for Raise3D but for the entire 3D printing FFF-based industry. Our competitive superiority at a technological level has been growingly recognized over the last years. With the HUK3 allowing customers’ ROI to multiply by more than 3 times, we now want to reach more than 3 times the customers we have so far, and have so decided to offer, until the end of the year, an exceptional price of almost 1/3 lower than the planned retail price in 2023.”
Indeed, for all orders placed before December 31st this year, the Hyper Speed Upgrade Full Kit is priced at €699 instead of €999. Please note that you can install this upgrade on previously purchased and newly acquired Pro3 and Pro3 Plus machines. Reach out to any Raise3D authorized reseller and place your order!
